Nos passados dias 28 e 29 de setembro decorreu o Workshop Internacional organizado pela MONTIS no âmbito do projeto LIFE ENPLC (European Networks for Private Land Conservation). Com o título “Working on Private Land Conservation – Moving forward”, o workshop teve lugar em Fajão, Pampilhosa da Serra e contou com o apoio do programa LIFE, da Junta de Freguesia de Fajão, e da Câmara Municipal da Pampilhosa da Serra.
On the 28th and 29th of September, took place the International Workshop organized by MONTIS within the scope of the LIFE ENPLC (European Networks for Private Land Conservation) project. With the title “Working on Private Land Conservation – Moving forward”, the workshop took place in Fajão, Pampilhosa da Serra and had the support of the LIFE program, the Fajão Parish Council, and the Pampilhosa da Serra Municipal Council.
O primeiro dia do workshop arrancou com a sessão de abertura que incluiu, a direção da MONTIS - Associação para a Gestão e Conservação da Natureza, representada por Teresa Mª Gamito e Margarida Silva, a Câmara Municipal da Pampilhosa da Serra, representada pelo vereador Rui Simão, e o Eurosite / LIFE ELCN (European Land Conservation Network), representados por Carolina Halevy.
The first day of the workshop began with the opening session which included, the direction of MONTIS - Associação para a Gestão e Conservação da Natureza, represented by Teresa M. Gamito and Margarida Silva, the Municipal Council of Pampilhosa da Serra, represented by councilor Rui Simão, and Eurosite / LIFE ELCN (European Land Conservation Network), represented by Carolina Halevy.
A primeira apresentação, "ENPLC Ambassadors Inspiration”, inserida no Painel 1, que abordou a temática “Financiamento e desafios em Conservação” foi de Marie Orban, a representar a ELO (European Landowners' Organization).
The first presentation “ENPLC Ambassadors Inspiration”, included in Panel 1, addressing the theme “Financing and challenges in Conservation”, was by Marie Orban, representing ELO (European Landowners' Organization).
Depois do coffee break, iniciou-se o Painel 2, com a temática “O que é possível alcançar com o voluntariado?”. A primeira apresentação, com o título “Your choice our mission”, foi de Gabriel Gomes, do IPDJ (Instituto Português do Desporto e Juventude), seguida pela apresentação de Margarida Silva “What is possible to achieve with volunteering”, em representação da MONTIS.
After the coffee break, Panel 2 began, with the theme “What can you achieve with volunteering?”. The first presentation, entitled “Your choice our mission”, was by Gabriel Gomes, from IPDJ (Instituto Português do Desporto e Juventude), followed by Margarida Silva’s presentation “What is possible to achieve with volunteering”, representing MONTIS.
Durante a tarde teve lugar o Painel 3 “Motivações e desafios dos proprietários rurais”, que contou com a apresentação “The perspective of Portuguese landowners” de João Carvalho, em representação da ANPC (Associação Nacional de Proprietários Rurais Gestão Cinegética e Biodiversidade) e, a apresentação “Landowners motivations and challenges” de Sofia Garrett, a representar a Herdade do Monte Novo e Conqueiro.
During the afternoon, Panel 3 “Motivations and challenges of rural landowners” took place, which included the presentation “The perspective of Portuguese landowners” by João Carvalho, representing ANPC (Associação Nacional de Proprietários Rurais Gestão Cinegética e Biodiversidade) and, the presentation “Landowners motivations and challenges” by Sofia Garrett, representing Herdade do Monte Novo e Conqueiro.
Para finalizar o primeiro dia do workshop, foi colocado um desafio aos participantes, pedindo-lhes que indicassem as Motivações e os Desafios que se colocam aos dois grupos: Proprietários de terras (privados e empresas) e Organizações não Governamentais/Organizações que gerem voluntariado. As várias partilhas de ideias foram debatidas e registadas.
To end the first day of the workshop, a challenge was proposed to the participants, asking them to indicate the Motivations and Challenges faced by the two groups: Landowners (private and companies) and Non-Governmental Organizations/Organizations that manage volunteering. The various sharing of ideas was debated and recorded.
O segundo dia do workshop contou com a apresentação “Duorum - Promoting Nature conservation while producing Top Quality World Wines” inserida no Painel 4 “Casos de sucesso: O que falta para a Conservação de Terras Privadas em Portugal?” de Mário Agostinho, a representar a DUORUM.
The second day of the workshop featured the presentation “Duorum - Promoting Nature conservation while producing Top Quality World Wines” included in Panel 4 “Success cases: What is missing for the Conservation of Private Lands in Portugal?” by Mário Agostinho, representing DUORUM.
Por fim, foi ainda possível visitar as propriedades da MONTIS. Nas três primeiras paragens mostrou-se Penedo, Covões e Barroco Frio, explicando e discutindo as opções tomadas e a tomar, nomeadamente as relacionadas com a conversão dos eucaliptais. Na última, após uma pequena caminhada visitou-se Penedo Alto e mostrou-se Soalheira, explicando também o trabalho que tem vindo a ser realizado em terrenos privados, particularmente com o apoio de voluntários.
Finally, it was still possible to visit MONTIS properties. On the first three stops we showed Penedo, Covões and Barroco Frio, explaining and discussing the options taken and still to be taken, particularly those related to the conversion of the eucalyptus trees areas. In the last one, after a short walk, Penedo Alto was visited and Soalheira was shown, also explaining the work that has been carried out on private land, particularly with the support of volunteers.

Os almoços e os jantares foram servidos no restaurante de Fajão “O Pascoal”, famoso pelos seus pratos tradicionais, e onde houve opções para todos. Na noite do primeiro dia de workshop, proporcionou-se uma experiência de jantar tradicional e cultural, com música ao vivo, durante e após o jantar.
Lunches and dinners were served at the Fajão restaurant “O Pascoal”, famous for its traditional dishes, and where there was something good for everyone. On the evening of the first day of the workshop, a traditional and cultural dining experience was provided, with live music, during and after dinner.
