Segunda-feira / Monday
Começámos o primeiro dia de trabalho da semana com outro ajudante externo, terminando de cortar as estacas que usámos para marcar as plantas recém-plantadas (levou-nos a manhã toda). Como a chuva estava a abrandar um pouco, começámos a fazer a manutenção das árvores já plantadas, reparando marcações partidas e substituindo plantas mortas, garantindo que estavam bem visíveis. Plantámos 19 lodão-bastardos (Celtis australis) e 33 sobreiros (Quercus suber).
We started the first work day of the week with another external helper by finishing cutting up the sticks that we used to mark newly planted plants (it took us the whole morning). The rain was settling a little bit and we started maintaining on the already planted trees by fixing broken mark and replacing dead plants, making sure they are visible. We planted 19 Mediterranean hackberry (Celtis australis) and 33 cork oaks (Quercus suber).
Terça-feira / Tuesday
Nesse dia começámos mais tarde devido a uma tempestade. Depois de uma viagem de 1 hora até outra propriedade — Aguada de Baixo, Aveiro — a chegada foi uma parte complicada por causa da colina íngreme. Depois de o Guilherme nos ensinar o básico, passámos o dia a podar árvores (diferentes carvalhos e pinheiros), enquanto a Emilie descascava espécies invasoras (Mimosa - Acacia dealbata). Regressámos a casa após mais uma viagem de 1 hora de volta.
This day we started late because of a storm going on. After 1 hour trip to another property: Aguada de Baixo, Aveiro. Reaching the property was a tricky part because of the steep hill. After Guilherme taught us the basics, we spent the day pruning trees (differents oaks and pine trees), while Emilie debarked invasives species (Acacia dealbata). We reached home after another 1 hour trip back.
Quatra-feira / Wednesday
Tivemos um dia de folga por causa do tempo [na realidade a folga foi porque iriam trabalhar no fim de semana de voluntariado]. Huberson fez um bolo mesmo muito, muito, muito, delicioso.
We had a day off because of the weather. Huberson baked a really good cake.
Quinta-feira / Thursday
Hoje subimos até à mesma área de segunda-feira para voltar a fazer a manutenção das árvores e arbustos já plantados. Fizemos um ótimo trabalho e plantámos 47 amieiros (Alnus glutinosa) e 40 azereiros (Prunus lusitanica). O tempo esteve mais agradável connosco hoje e o sol apareceu durante bastante tempo. No geral, foi um dia muito produtivo.
Today, we climbed up to the same area as Monday to do maintenance again on the already planted trees and bushes. We did a really good job and planted 47 Common alder (Alnus glutinosa) and 40 Portuguese laurel (Prunus lusitanica). The weather was nicer to us today, and the sun showed itself for a long time. Overall, it was a really productive day.
Sexta-feira / Friday
Hoje trabalhámos apenas de manhã, na mesma área de ontem. Plantámos 37 amieiros (Alnus glutinosa) com a orientação da técnica Inês. O tempo esteve instável hoje, alternando entre sol e chuva. À tarde, revimos pontos importantes durante a viagem com a Inês.
We worked only in the morning today, at the same area as yesterday. We planted 37 Common alder (Alnus glutinosa) with the orientations of technician Inês. The weather was bipolar today and switched between sun and rain. In the afternoon, we went over important stuff on the drive with Inês.
Sábado / Saturday
Trabalhámos no primeiro dia da atividade de voluntariado, com voluntários novos e antigos, plantando em duas novas áreas que tinham sido abertas pelos técnicos. No terreno havia 1 técnico e 9 voluntários a trabalhar. Plantámos 80 amieiros (Alnus glutinosa) nas áreas mais húmidas. Nas zonas mais secas, as outras plantas que foram plantadas foram: 53 carvalhos-alvarinhos (Quercus robur), 26 lodão-bastardos (Celtis australis), 40 azereiros (Prunus lusitanica) e 11 sobreiros (Quercus suber). No geral, tivemos um dia ensolarado e uma pausa para almoço muito agradável e animada.
We worked the first day of the volunteering event of the new and old and volunteers by planting in two news areas that were open by technicians, on the field there were 1 technician and 9 volunteers working. We planted 80 Common alder (Alnus glutinosa) in more wet areas, the other plants that were planted in drier areas were 53 Common oak (Quercus robur), 26 Mediterranean hackberry (Celtis australis), 40 Portuguese laurel (Prunus lusitanica) and 11 Cork oak (Quercus suber). We had overall a sunny weather and a really nice and a lively lunch break.
