Introdução / Introduction
Nós, os voluntários, chegámos a Vouzela em diferentes dias da semana e, por isso, trabalhámos um número diferente de dias nesta semana. No entanto, assim que o grupo ficou completo, trabalhámos juntos durante três dias completos.
We, the volunteers, arrived on different days of the week to Vouzela and thus worked a different number of days this week. However, once our group was complete, we got to work together for 3 full days.
Terça-feira / Tuesday
Na manhã de terça-feira, metade do grupo foi a uma plantação em Levides para verificar as árvores já plantadas. Marcámo-las com estacas e limpámos um pouco à sua volta para garantir que estavam a crescer bem.
On Tuesday morning, half of the group went to a plantation in Levides to check on the already planted trees. We marked them with stacks and cleaned a little around them to make sure they were growing well.
De quarta-feira a quinta-feira / Wednesday to Thursday
Nessa altura, o nosso grupo já estava finalmente completo e pudemos começar a plantar árvores numa plantação em Cabrieira. Plantámos árvores nativas junto ao rio que corria para restaurar a vegetação. Depois, marcámos as plantas com estacas para as encontrarmos facilmente mais tarde e podermos observá-las. Trabalhámos arduamente debaixo da chuva. Na quarta-feira, os homens que fazem manutenção florestal através de queimadas controladas vieram connosco e explicaram-nos por que isso é importante e como é que o fazem.
By that time, our group had finally formed together, and we could get started on planting trees in a plantation in Cabrieira. We planted native trees next to the flowing river to repair the vegetation. Then, we marked the plants with stacks so that later we can find them more easily and check up on them. We worked hard in the constant rainfall. On Wednesday, the men who maintain the forest through controlled fire came with us, and they explained to us why that is important and how they do it.
Sexta-feira / Friday
No último dia da semana, cuidámos do nosso equipamento. Lavámos as ferramentas e as luvas, pusemos os impermeáveis a secar, limpámos o carro e colocámos temporariamente no viveiro as restantes árvores que ainda estavam por plantar.
On the last day of the week, we took care of our equipment. We washed our tools, gloves and put our raincoats to dry, cleaned the car and put the rest of the trees yet to plant to the nursery for the time being.
