Segunda-feira / Monday
Na segunda-feira, caminhámos bastante e limpámos os medronheiros. Em seguida, cortámos os eucaliptos da primeira propriedade. O trabalho em equipa avançou muito durante o dia.
On Monday, we walked a lot and cleaned the strawberry trees. Then, we cut the eucalyptus from the first property. Teamwork advanced a lot during the day.
Terça-feira / Tuesday
Na terça-feira, também caminhámos bastante na primeira propriedade, onde já iniciámos o corte da última linha de eucaliptos. Além disso, verificámos novamente se os medronheiros estavam limpos e criámos mais espaço entre os pinheiros.
On Tuesday, we also walked a lot on the first property, where we have already started cutting the last line of eucalyptus. In addition, we checked again if the strawberry trees were clean and created more space between the pine trees.
Quarta-feira / Wednesday
Nesta quarta-feira, todos trabalhámos na propriedade de Covões. Começámos cedo de manhã devido às altas temperaturas previstas para o dia. Para chegar à propriedade,
tivemos de fazer uma longa caminhada fisicamente exigente, ainda mais difícil devido ao terreno acidentado.
Quando chegámos ao local, a Estrellia, o Pascal e a Lola ficaram responsáveis pelo corte dos eucaliptos. O Julien dedicou-se principalmente à remoção de alguns pinheiros devido à sua alergia.
Durante a manhã, a Estrellia encontrou um louva-a-deus.
Após a pausa para o almoço, começou a ouvir-se o trovão à medida que uma tempestade se aproximava. Pouco tempo depois, tivemos de abandonar o local e percorrer novamente o mesmo caminho difícil de regresso. Acabámos por chegar todos em segurança, cansados, desidratados e cobertos de suor após um dia particularmente exigente.
This Wednesday, we all worked on the Covões property. We started early in the morning due to the high temperatures expected throughout the day. To reach the property, we had to complete a long and physically demanding walk, made even more difficult by the challenging terrain.
Once we arrived on site, Estrellia, Pascal and Lola were responsible for cutting the eucalyptus trees. Julien mainly removed certain pine trees due to his allergy.
During the morning, Estrellia found a praying mantis.
After the lunch break, thunder could be heard in the distance as a storm began to approach. Shortly afterwards, we had to leave the site and once again follow the same difficult path back. We all eventually arrived safely, tired, dehydrated and covered in sweat after a particularly demanding day.
Quinta-feira / Thursday
Hoje reencontrámos o Guilherme, bem como uma possível nova voluntária que se juntou a nós durante o dia : a Filipa.
O Pascal, o Guilherme e a Filipa ficaram responsáveis pelo mapeamento da área com um drone. Entretanto, o restante grupo dedicou-se à poda dos medronheiros (Strawberry Trees) e dos pinheiros, com o objetivo de selecionar os rebentos mais robustos.
O terreno era de difícil acesso e estava coberto de espinhos, o que provocou várias quedas ao longo do dia. A Estrellia e a Lola observaram também uma lagarta e um lagarto. Para terminar o dia, tirámos uma fotografia de grupo, uma vez que era o nosso último dia todos juntos.
Today, we met again with Guilherme, as well as a possible new intern who joined us for the day : Filipa.
Pascal, Guilherme and Filipa were responsible for mapping the area using a drone. Meanwhile, the rest of the group worked on pruning the strawberry trees and pine trees in order to select the strongest shoots.
The terrain was difficult to access and covered with thorns, which caused several falls throughout the day. Estrellia and Lola also observed a caterpillar and a lizard. To conclude the day, we took a group photo, as it was our last day all together.
Sexta-feira / Friday
O Guilherme deixou-nos (Lola e Estrellia) de véspera na Serra da Estrela e levou o Pascal para Vouzela pois quinta-feira foi o seu últiomo dia de voluntariado na MONTIS.
Neste dia, a Estrellia e a Lola saborearam o pequeno-almoço preparado com todo o cuidado pela Constança, proprietária do alojamento. Foi um verdadeiro banquete!
No final da manhã, a Juliana, o Julien, o Tarick e a Glycienne juntaram-se às raparigas na Casa do Lobo, uma bela casa com vista para a serra portuguesa, onde ficaram alojados durante uma noite.
Durante a tarde, a Juliana, a Estrellia e a Lola foram até à parcela de Tortosendo para continuar o trabalho de debarking dos acácias iniciado algumas semanas antes.
No entanto, tivemos um pequeno contratempo: o GPS levou-nos por pequenas estradas de montanha onde o Mégane teve dificuldade em passar. Tivemos mais medo do que outra coisa e chegámos todas em segurança. Graças a este pequeno desvio, pudemos observar muitas borboletas bonitas ao longo do caminho.
Guilherme dropped us (Lola and Estrellia) off at Serra da Estrela the day before and took Pascal to Vouzela, since Thursday was his last day of volunteering at MONTIS.
This day, Estrellia and Lola enjoyed the breakfast carefully prepared by Constança, the owner of the guesthouse. It was a feast!
At the end of the morning, Juliana, Julien, Tarick and Glycienne joined the girls at Casa do Lobo, a beautiful house overlooking the Portuguese mountain range, where they stayed for one night.
In the afternoon, Juliana, Estrellia and Lola went to the Tortosendo plot to continue the acacia debarking work that had started a few weeks earlier.
However, we had a small setback : the GPS led us along small mountain roads where the Mégane had difficulty getting through. We were more frightened than hurt, and we all arrived safely. Thanks to this little detour, we were able to observe lots of beautiful butterflies along the way.
