The MONTIS volunteers tell us about their week of volunteering from April 27 to 30. Read their testimony below!
Segunda-feira / Monday
Na segunda-feira de manhã fomos levados ao campo e continuámos a poda com tempo bonito. Após o trabalho, Guilherme e Axel, o nosso novo voluntário, vieram buscar-nos. Juntos fomos às compras e ajudámos o Axel a instalar-se.
On Monday morning we were brought to the field and continued pruning in beautiful weather.After work we got picked up by Guilherme and Axel our new Volunteer. Together we went shopping and helped Axel to settle in.
Terça-feira / Tuesday
No primeiro dia de trabalho do Axel, visitámos uma área onde as árvores tinham sido plantadas em janeiro. Foi muito giro ver que elas estavam a crescer bem. Depois disso, explicámos ao Axel o processo de poda e passámos imediatamente à prática. Após um dia com condições de trabalho fantásticas, tínhamos podado 26 árvores.
On Axels first workday we visited an area where trees were planted in January. It was really cool to see them doing well.After that we went on to explain Axel the pruning process and then went straight to work.After a day with amazing working conditions we pruned 26 trees.
Quarta / Wednesday
Na quarta-feira previu-se trovoada no campo, por isso passámos a manhã deste dia chuvoso a descamar árvores numa propriedade a pé de Vouzela. Depois disso, nós e os Voluntários Franceses dirigimo-nos ao escritório para almoçar. À tarde limpámos o carro, organizámos a garagem e também tratámos da sujidade no escritório.
On Wednesday it was said to thunder out in the field so we spent the morning of this rainy day debarking trees in a property in walking distance from Vouzela.After doing that we and the French Volunteers headed to the office for lunch. In the afternoon we cleaned the car, organized the garage and also took care of dirt in the office.
Quinta-feira / Thursday
Quinta-feira marcou o último dia da Lisett, que foi voluntária da MONTIS durante 4 meses inteiros. No seu último dia, o Guilherme levou-nos à Aguada de Baixo uma propriedade a 1 hora de Vouzela, onde descascámos árvores invasoras e tratámos das silvas. Foi um dia realmente agradável, embora tenha sido estranho pensar que a Lisett nos está a deixar. :(
Thursday marked the last day of Lisett who was a Montis volunteer for 4 whole months.On her last day Guilherem took us to Aguada de Baixo an property 1 hour away from Vouzela where we debarked invasive trees and took care of brambles.It was a really nice day even though it felt a bit weird thinking that Lisett is leaving us. :(
