Monday / Segunda
On Monday morning we woke up in São Pedro de Sul where we stayed after a trip on the weekend. Inês picked us up and brought us to Carvalhal de Vermilhas to continue pruning the oaks. In the heat it was really intense and we were glad to take a cold shower afterwards.
Na segunda-feira de manhã, acordámos em São Pedro de Sul, onde ficámos depois de uma viagem no fim de semana. A Inês foi buscar-nos e levou-nos a Carvalhal de Vermilhas para continuarmos a podar os carvalhos. O calor era realmente intenso e ficámos contentes por tomar um duche frio depois.
Tuesday / Terça
The next day it was to hot to go up the mountain and continue pruning, so we went to Quinta das Lamas and debarked invasive Acacia trees, which was really nice in the head because we were in the forest so we had shadow most of the time.
No dia seguinte, estava demasiado calor para subir a montanha e continuar a poda, por isso fomos à Quinta das Lamas descascar acácias invasoras, o que foi muito agradável, pois estávamos na floresta e tivemos sombra a maior parte do tempo.
Wednesday / Quarta
On Wednesday there was a team of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation with us the whole day. In the morning they filmed and interviewed us while we were pruning in Cabrieira and in the afternoon they film us during an activity in Quinta das Lamas together with school children. It was an really interesting day and we learned even more about how MONTIS works.
Na quarta-feira, uma equipa da Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian esteve connosco durante o dia todo. De manhã, filmaram-nos e entrevistaram-nos enquanto podávamos em Cabrieira e, à tarde, filmaram-nos durante uma atividade na Quinta das Lamas, juntamente com crianças da escola. Foi um dia realmente interessante e aprendemos ainda mais sobre o funcionamento da MONTIS.
Thursday / Quinta
On Thursday we went to Quinta das Lamas to map the area so we have an overview what we and the past volunteers did. This was a bit tricky because the GPS signal under the canopies is a total mess.
Na quinta-feira, fomos à Quinta das Lamas para mapear a área, de modo a termos uma visão geral do que nós e os voluntários anteriores fizemos. Foi um pouco complicado, porque o sinal de GPS debaixo da copa das árvores fica muito confuso.
Friday / Sexta
On the last volunteering day of Felix and Viola we went pruning again in Cabrieira. It was really nice to be up the mountain with the nice weather and realize what we achieved in all our time here.
No último dia de voluntariado do Felix e da Viola, voltámos a podar em Cabrieira. Foi muito bom estar na montanha com este tempo agradável e perceber tudo o que conseguimos durante todo o tempo que passámos aqui.
