The MONTIS volunteers tell us about their week of volunteering from April 6 to 12. Read their testimony below!
Segunda-feira / Monday
Na segunda-feira de manhã continuámos a podar. Quando a Inês veio buscar-nos, explicou-nos mais coisas sobre a propriedade e pudemos refrescar os nossos conhecimentos.
On Monday morning we continued pruning. When Inês picked us up she explained us more about the property and we could refresh our knowledge.
Terça-feira / Tuesday
Na terça-feira fomos à sede da MONTIS porque as previsões eram que ia chover demasiado para trabalhar no campo. Passamos o dia a limpar os carros, organizar as ferramentas na garagem e a lavar os tabuleiros de plantas.
Este dia marcou também a chegada dos nossos novos voluntários franceses, Estrellia, Lola, Julien e Steve. Logo após a chegada tivemos um briefing onde receberam uma explicação sobre como funciona o plano de trabalho.
On Tuesday we went to MONTIS headquarters because it was said to rain to much for working in the field. We passed the day washing cars, organising the tools in the garage and washing the plant trays.
This day also markes the arrival of our new french Volunteers Estrellia, Lola, Julien and Steve. Right after arrival we had a briefing where they got a explanation how the workplan functions.
Quarta-feira e Quinta-feira / Wednesday and Thursday
Nos primeiros dias de trabalho dos novos voluntários, fomos todos ao Baldio de Carvalhais e continuámos a plantação nas áreas recém-abertas, com tempo variável mas com o moral muito alto. No total, plantámos 527 plantas.
On the first workdays of the new volunteers we all went to Carvalhais and continued the plantation in the newly opened areas with mixed weather and high spirit, we planted 527 plants in total.
Sexta-feira / Friday
No último dia da semana mostrámos aos novos voluntários como podar os carvalhos. Passámos algum tempo a podar todos juntos, mas depois os novos voluntários tiveram de mudar para outro alojamento enquanto nós começámos a limpar os ramos removidos.
On the last day of the week we showed the new volunteers how to prune the oaks.We spend some time pruning all together but then the new volunteers had to move to another accomodation and we started cleaning up the removed branches.
