Os voluntários de longa duração da MONTIS, Hugo Laviron, Gabriel, Baptiste e Hugo Guastalla (conhecidos como "GiestaHappyBees"), o Youn - voluntário de longa duração da MONTIS através do projeto Do It 5: Develop Opportunities (through) Intercultural Travel, promovido pela associação parceira, Parcours le Monde Grand Ouest - e a Ester, voluntária de curta duração, deixam-nos o seu testemunho da semana de 10 a 16 de março. Eles também fizeram a tradução para português dos seus textos, uma vez que estão a fazer um esforço para aprender o idioma. Nota: nesta semana foram também acompanhados pelo Cedric, o estagiário alemão que além do trabalho no terreno tem também apoiado a MONTIS em SIG e uso do drone.
MONTIS long-term volunteers Hugo Laviron, Gabriel, Baptiste and Hugo Guastalla (known as “GiestaHappyBees”), Youn - a MONTIS long-term volunteer through the project Do It 5: Develop Opportunities (through) Intercultural Travel, promoted by our partner association, Parcours le Monde Grand Ouest - and Ester, a short-term volunteer, give us their report of the week from March 10 to 16. They have also translated their texts into Portuguese, as they are making an effort to learn the language. Note: this week they were also joined by Cedric, the German intern that besides the work in field is also supporting MONTIS in GIS and the drone.
Segunda-feira foi o dia mais chuvoso que tivemos desde a nossa chegada! Ainda mais do que na segunda-feira anterior. Conseguimos trabalhar até às 13h30 sem comer, e voltámos aos nossos alojamentos completamente molhados, como se tivéssemos nadado no mar antes. Trabalhámos na nova área a sul da propriedade, onde já tínhamos começado a limpar na semana anterior.
Monday was the rainiest day we had since our arrival ! Even more than the previous monday. We managed to work until 1:30pm without eating, and we came back to our accommodations completely wet, as if we had swum in the sea before. We worked on the new area at the south of the property, where we already started cleaning during the previous week.
Terça-feira, continuámos a limpar e a plantar a bom ritmo, com melhor tempo, embora ainda estivesse chuvoso e nublado, mas depois da segunda-feira que tivemos, já não tínhamos medo de nada.
Tuesday, we continued clearing and planting at a good pace, with better weather although it was still rainy and cloudy, but we had seen everything on Monday and we were not afraid of anything anymore.

Na quarta-feira, demos as boas-vindas à Ester, da Itália, que estará por duas semanas de voluntariado com MONTIS. Ela falou-nos das suas experiências anteriores, particularmente no Brasil, onde fez um projeto de investigação de gravação de áudio de diversos ambientes naturais para provar a eficiência da conservação natural.
Wednesday, we welcomed Ester, from Italy, who is here for two weeks of volunteering with MONTIS. She talked to us about her previous experiences, particularly in Brazil, where she made a research project of audio recording of diverse natural environments to prove the efficiency of natural conservation.
Quinta-feira, terminámos a limpeza e plantação na zona sul, o que no final representou mais de 300 m² limpos e mais de 300 plantas plantadas.
Thursday we finished cleaning and planting in the southern zone, which in the end represented more than 300m² cleared and more than 300 plants planted.
Na sexta-feira de manhã, já não tínhamos plantas no fundo da propriedade, pelo que aproveitámos para limpar e fazer buracos numa nova zona não muito longe da anterior, para podermos voltar mais tarde e plantar rapidamente. À tarde, subimos a propriedade para terminar a plantação das árvores que lá tínhamos.
On Friday morning, we didn’t have any plants left at the bottom of the property, so we took the opportunity to clear and dig holes in a new zone not far from the previous one, so we could come back later and plant fast. In the afternoon, we went up the property to finish planting the trees we had there.
No sábado e na sexta-feira, houve um fim de semana de voluntariado organizado pela MONTIS com cinco voluntários da V.O.U. Fomos uma grande equipa de 12 pessoas e passámos o fim de semana a replantar, o que significa que fomos para uma área que tinha sido previamente plantada (em 2022/2023, neste caso), limpámo-la tendo o cuidado de não danificar as árvores e as plantas que tinham sobrevivido nos últimos dois anos, e replantámos árvores e arbustos onde as plantas tinham morrido.
On Saturday and Friday, there was a volunteering week-end organized by MONTIS with 5 volunteers from V.O.U. We were a big team of 12 and we spent the week-end replanting, which means that we went to an area that was previously planted (in 2022/2023 in this cas), we cleared it while being careful not to cut the trees and plants that had survived the past two years, and while replanting trees and shrubs where the plants had died.

Na segunda-feira, como foi o dia mais chuvoso desde que chegámos, só conseguimos plantar 39 árvores mas limpámos cerca de 300 m2 !
Terça-feira, plantámos no espaço que limpámos na segunda e chegámos às 109 plantações! Também limpámos 200 m2.
A quarta-feira foi muito parecida com a terça-feira, mas plantámos um pouco menos (89) e limpámos um pouco mais (300 m2).
Na quinta-feira, finalizámos a plantação da restante área limpa com um total de 85 plantas.
Na sexta-feira, limpámos mais uma área de 300 m2 e plantámos 73 plantas.
Sábado e domingo foram um pouco diferentes, uma vez que outros voluntários de uma universidade juntaram-se a nós. Trabalhámos numa nova área e conseguimos limpar cerca de 1 000 m2 e plantar 293 plantas no fim de semana !!
On Monday, as it was the rainiest day since we arrived, we only managed to plant 39 trees but we cleared around 300 m2 !
Tuesday, we planted on the space we cleared on Monday so we were able to reach 109 plantings ! We also cleaned 200 m2.
Wednesday, was very similar to Tuesday but we planted a bit less (89) and cleared a bit more (300 m2).
On Thursday, we finished planting the remaining cleared space with a total of 85 plants.
On Friday, we cleared another area of 300 m2 and we planted 73 plants.
Saturday and Sunday were a bit different as other volunteers from a university joined us. We worked on a new area and managed to clean around 1 000 m2 and to plant 293 plants on the week-end !!
